We have all heard about antioxidants. But, do you know why its necessary for the body to have it? Well. Let me explain in a more precise and conscious way.

What are Antioxidants?

Antioxidants are substances that can protect the cell and slow damage to cells caused by free radicals. Free radicals are unstable molecules that can damage cells causing ageing and illness. These free radicals are produced when the body breaks down food or reacts to environmental and other pressures.

Antioxidants in organic food

It has been proven that antioxidants play an imperative role in enhancing overall health. Studies have also shown that organically grown crops contain higher levels of antioxidants than those that have been mass-produced. This is due to the fact that plants are more likely to develop natural defenses to diseases in the form of antioxidants, which do not adequately develop, due to the use of pesticides.

Mass production has addressed a lot of the hunger issues of the modern-day, however, because of the health and environmental issues that cloud conventional farming the shift to non-toxic methods of farming will continue to increase.
